Wisdom tooth removal can cause serious damage such as PERMANENT lip and tongue numbness, loss of taste and fluids leaking out of nose on drinking. These can occur even in “simple” cases and are avoidable if proper assessments were carried out and surgery done competently. Dr Fan is a specialist Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon referred to treat many such complications.
Permanent lip and tongue numbness and loss of taste sensation with nerve damage
Tooth or root fragment pushed into sinus cavity or tissue spaces and infection
Jaw fracture from excessive force during extraction or surgery
Problems such as pain, infection and cystic changes can occur in an impacted wisdom tooth.
Pain around wisdom teeth and severe swelling with infection
Decay of neighbouring tooth with severe pain which requires extraction
Large cyst can develop over time in a buried tooth which can lead to jaw fracture
If you are experiencing any of the following problems, you may have to remove your impacted wisdom teeth before it causes further damage to the gums, bone and teeth in front
With the help of Dental Cone Beam CT, the 3-dimensional view of the dentals nerves are located, this allows Dr Fan to find the best possible way to remove the tooth without damaging the nerves.
Our clinic has hospital standards of sterility with spacious rooms and UV light against airborne viruses. Appointments are well spaced to prevent crowding and risks of cross infection.

Removal of wisdom tooth ranges from $400 (simple extraction) to $2000 (complicated surgical removal under general anaesthesia). Specialist surgical treatment is not anymore expensive than surgery done by some of the dental GP/ dental surgeons as it is a medisave regulated procedure. Medisave claims are available for different types of surgery. Call us for more information.
Wisdom tooth can be removed by 3 ways: 1) Local anaesthesia 2) Intravenous sedation 3) General anaesthesia. Our practice, unlike many practices located in shopping mall or HDB shophouse, is located in an advanced hospital and surgery can be done safely with hospital standards sterile conditions against cross infections (virus/bacterial) and emergency care readily available. This is especially important for cases which require intravenous sedation and for the more complicated cases that require more time for surgery, general anaesthesia is available under safe and controlled situations. Dr Fan, unlike other surgeons, is medically qualified and is able to deal with medical emergencies safely with his training and experience.
Post-surgical care begins with pre surgical preparation. Our clinic emphasizes on pre-emptive analgesia and treatment to ensure that the patient has no pain, minimal swelling and jaw problems after surgery. We are not a general dental office and surgical care is our practice’s main emphasis. Patients can be rest assured that he/she gets optimal surgical management in a carefree and relaxed environment which is SAFE.
